Evinax Rainstorm .177

Evanix Rainstorm II

The Evanix Rainstorm is a truly fantastic pest control and hunting PCP rifle and loaded with features. This rifle has to be one of the ultimates in quiet and lightweight. It's weighs in at a mere 7.2 lbs. and even with a scope will weigh less than most other air rifles. That light weight means you won't get tired out lugging a heavy gun around the woods or fields. In addition the gun features a 10 shot magazine, is easy to load and the sidecocking mechanism is easy to cock. The two-stage trigger is just right for the hunter and comes set approximately between 2.2 to 3 lbs of pull. So if you like a nice, short carbine for hunting, take a very close look at this rifle. It's a great value for the money.

The Evanix Rainstorm is a very sweet shooter and I was quite interested to see what the velocity tests would show. I knew it was powerful but I didn't know exactly how powerful. Well, the results didn't disappoint. It is definitely a powerful rifle and a smooth shooter as well.

I was pleasantly surprised at how easily it is to cock this rifle with the side lever. That might sound surprising because other rifles have side lever cocking as well, but this apparatus seemed to have one main difference from the other side lever rifles. There was no drag, hesitation or hang-up when pushing the lever forward to complete the cocking motion. With many cocking mechanisms, side-lever or bolt, a shooter is required to push harder with some pellets if a particular pellet fits a bit tight in the magazine, bore or both...or has multiple rings. This did not occur at all in the Rainstorm whether the pellet fit tightly in the magazine or bore. All pellets loaded easily with a cocking motion that required no extra effort to close the cocking lever. That was quite impressive and very rare.

Overall, the Rainstorm was a pleasure to shoot and as with the Evanix Speed, it didn't throw the light pellets all over the place which is quite common with most powerful springers and PCP's. That was another pleasant surprise. The velocity results were impressive and ranged from 901 fps to 1067 fps. And in terms of foot lbs of energy, it ranged from 29 fpe to 46 fpe.  That type of power makes it a good choice for the long range shooters and the pest control/hunter guys.

Bottom line is that this is another winner from the Evanix line of rifles. I get a more impressed with every Evanix that I shoot.
