The Model 48 supermagnum rifle has been discussed quite a bit in articles as well as on the chat forums. Opinions of this gun are all over the board. One of the most commonly debated features of the 48 is it's velocity level. Actually RWS does not put much in their literature about velocity measurements and most of what is written is from individual shooters testing a few pellets here and there. These velocity tests will provide some accurate information on this rifle's velocity.

It is sometimes difficult to compare airguns because airgun models are designed and built with different market segments in mind. There are entry level airguns, of course, and after that there are airguns for target shooting, field target competition, 10 meter match shooting, plinking, pest control and hunting. In many cases, the 48 gets compared to airguns that are quite a bit more expensive. That is probably not fair to the 48, but happens nevertheless.

Actually there aren't many airguns that match it's power and performance at it's price-point. It is probably most commonly used as an all-around general plinking gun while serving additional duty as a pest control and hunting airgun. While it may not have the fit and finish and smoothness of some of the more expensive airguns, it is a good performer with lots of power and respectable accuracy. Because of its power level, it does require some practice to become familiar with it's motion and recoil which is the case with all supermagnum airguns.

We find that the 48 shoots with good accuracy and tons of power. It's performance is very good for it's price-point and will give a shooter a very good value for their dollar. Check out the numbers and we're sure you will find this rifle to your liking.
